If you believe your FBI Criminal History Record contains inaccurate or incomplete information, you have the right to request a correction. DTIS does not have the ability to modify your record. All disputes must be directed to the agencies that submitted the original information.
Your FBI record is compiled from fingerprint submissions made by local, state, and federal agencies such as local police departments, state police, county courts, and circuit courts. The FBI CJIS Division does not originate this data and cannot modify it without a formal request from the contributing agency.
To request a correction, you have two options.
Reach out to the agency or agencies that submitted the information you believe is inaccurate. Request that they verify or correct the entry with the FBI CJIS Division.

The FBI will forward your challenge to the contributing agency and request verification or correction. Any changes to your record will only be made upon receipt of an official response from that agency.
